Producers Ramesh Taurani and Akshai Puri have acquired the rights of the 2010 Tamil hit Aranya Kaandam. This one is a neo-noir action film which took the audience into the lives of six protagonists. The film starred Jackie Shroff, Ravi Krishna, Sampath Raj, Yasmin Ponnappa and Guru Somasundaram. Aranya Kaandam had also won a national award in the ‘best first film of a director’ category. It was directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja. In a way, this film had opened up a new chapter in Tamil cinema and won several accolades.
Interestingly the Hindi version will be directed by Ajay Bahl of BA Pass and Section 375 fame.
Producer Ramesh Taurani confirms the news and reveals exclusively that the film can be expected to go on floors by year end.
Ramesh Taurani says,
“It’s a huge hit in Tamil, so we acquired the rights of the film. As of now, we are in the process of scripting for it to suit the Hindi audience. Once the script is finalised, only then we will be able to move to casting. Hopefully, we aim to go on floors by the year end.”
I’m now looking forward to see who would be cast in the Hindi version of the film. Ajay Bahl is also directing The Lady Killer with Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar which is produced by T-series. Apart from these projects, the director has wrapped up the shooting for Blurr which stars Taapsee Pannu. The film is slated to release this year.
