Ever since the news of Ajay Devgn making his OTT debut was out, I’ve been intrigued and excited considering he’s known to always bring something amazing and larger-than-life to the table. Now that the trailer of Rudra is finally out, I must say it has lived up to my expectations and it looks impressive. This six-episode series is the adaptation of the British show, Luther and will release in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali.
Check out the trailer here:
Ajay who plays DCP Rudraveer Singh is on a mission to catch criminals and deal with them in his own unique way. While the actor has played a cop in Singham, this one is so different from what we’ve ever seen him do. He is filled with intensity and has his own dark side. Esha Deol plays his wife with whom his marriage is on the rocks. What I also liked about the trailer is that it has bits and pieces of dark humour apart from the intensity and action. Raashii Khanna plays a sociopath named Aliyah – and her character and look with the red hair seems really interesting. The series also has other ace actors like Ashwini Kalsekar, Atul Kulkarni, Ashish Vidyarthi, Satyadeep Misra among others in pivotal roles which further makes Rudra really interesting. The trailer has action, it keeps you on the edge and has a lot of nail-biting suspense. It’s directed by Rajesh Mapuskar who has made films like Ferrari Ki Sawaari and Marathi film Ventilator, for which he even won a National Award for best director. Clearly, there are many reasons for us to look forward to this series.
Talking about his character, Ajay Devgn said,
“My character in Rudra – The Edge Of Darkness is possibly the greyest character you may have never witnessed before. This has been both challenging and inspiring for me, and I am elated to share this magic with my fans across the world.”
Rudra is backed by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios. Talking about making this project on such a huge canvas,
Sameer Nair, CEO, Applause Entertainment, said,
“We are truly excited to be part of Ajay Devgn’s digital debut at such an ambitious scale with Rudra – The Edge Of Darkness. It’s been a terrific experience working on this unique narrative together with an amazing cast, crew and our production partners, BBC Studios. At Applause, we believe in the power of stories and storytelling, and with Rudra, we take forward our creative partnership with industry leader Disney+ Hotstar, and hope to continue entertaining audiences across the globe.”
Rudra is set to premiere on Disney + Hotstar, March 4 onwards and the trailer along with this whole team is totally making me excited for this one.
